Madeline Feingold, Ph.D.

Madeline Licker Feingold, Ph.D., Director of Psychological Services is a clinical psychologist with offices in Berkeley and Walnut Creek. She has over 25 years of experience treating adults, couples, and families and specializes in the psychological aspects of reproductive medicine, treatment of infertile couples, and alternative family building. She has been affiliated with the Alta Bates In Vitro Fertilization Program since 1992.

Dr. Feingold provides infertility counseling to help our patients cope with the emotional strain of infertility and works collaboratively with our medical team to insure an integrated treatment approach. She incorporates principles of mindfulness, relaxation techniques, and lifestyle interventions to assist individuals and couples reduce stress and depression and enhance the quality of their lives. Dr. Feingold has completed the Mind/Body Infertility Professional Training Program with Alice Domar, Ph.D.

Dr. Feingold has expertise in the psychological and ethical issues associated with third party reproduction.  She provides the required psychological screening of our egg donors and surrogates and meets with intended parents who are considering building a family with the assistance of donor egg, donor sperm, donor embryo, or surrogacy. Dr. Feingold helps people develop an individualized family building plan which focuses on healthy child and family development.

A member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (and former chair of the Mental Health Professional Group), American Fertility Association, and Resolve, Dr. Feingold regularly speaks at conferences on infertility and publishes in the field.
